Meijer Thrifty Acres is expected to receive final Site Plan approvals early this fall. Word from our Planners is that Meijer's final plan conforms to our Large Scale Retail ordinance.
Supervisor Ciccella is working with the Washtenaw County Road Commission to enable the access to Territorial Road, the curb cut, which is the only remaining roadblock to building our Township's Meijer Thrifty Acres.
How this will affect traffic around the intersection of North Territorial Road and US 23 is anybody's guess. I am hopeful that the increase in congestion will be balanced by a reduction in miles traveled to purchase our daily groceries and staples. I am hopeful that the congestion will be temporary, that the developers step up to the plate and provide a "Lee Road" solution, or that the State of Michigan reprioritizes this bridge upgrade.
